A new initiative for CL4Bio at the University of Foggia.
The Department of Economics of the University of Foggia (Italy), in cooperation with the National Food Bank (Banco Alimentare della Daunia “F. Vassalli”), and other local associations, organised the event “From waste to resource: a solidarity action for the common good”.
The event was held at the Department of Humanities of the University of Foggia on 7th February 2025, attracting more than 100 people, such as students, citizens, policy makers and other local representatives.
Among presenters, Prof. Mariantonietta Fiore and Dr. Fedele Colantuono (UniFG) presented the Erasmus+ project “CL4Bio” main objectives and results, focusing on one important activity performed at local level with the project associated partner “Banco Alimentare della Daunia F. Vassalli”. The cooperation between the two entities under Cl4Bio gave the possibility to 12 students from the Department of Economics UniFG to perform a socio-experiential training at the Banco Alimentare della Daunia F. Vassalli. This represented a useful experience for the students to touch directly the importance of the circular economy, learning how the Food Bank collects, manages and distributes donated groceries against food waste and promotes social initiatives to support disadvantaged people and help resilient communities, experiencing hunger and food insecurity.
A significant moment of the event was dedicated to the delivery of certificates to those students who, through the “CL4Bio” project, have participated in the training experience, as a testimony to the importance of the initiative in the educational and professional path of the students involved.
The CL4Bio targeted initiative represented a concrete example of how EU funded projects and on field-trainings can contribute to the fight against food waste and to raise awareness among future generations.
